The season has drawn to a close and we have achieved very successful positions in both leagues that we play in. The first team finished 3rd in County Division One having played 22, won 13, lost 4, with 1 tied (against close rivals Troon) and 4 games either abandoned or cancelled due poor weather. The 2nds came 5th in Division 4 West having played 22, won 11, lost 8 with 3 cancelled. We would like to recruit more players to join us next season to what we consider to be a fantastic club both on and off the field. If there is anyone you know who would like to play or is thinking about taking up the game then please let them and us know. The committee would like to thank all those volunteers who helped throughout the season especially the tea ladies, Clive Thomas and Paul Holmes for scoring and Colin Thomas for the numerous hours put in on the ground again this year. We raised £200 by the sale of tickets for the cricket bat raffle that was kindly donated by the Cornish Cricket Company. The draw was made by former player John Hutchings and the winner was Helen Tripconey. Our thanks to all who bought tickets. We are soon to be allocated a ‘Tesco Bags of Help’ community fund raising box at the Camborne Tesco store where blue tokens collected when you purchase items can be put into the Beacon CC box to raise funds for a youth store. There will be three different boxes with each club trying to get most tokens to win either £1,000, £2,000 or £4,000. So please start collecting now so that we have a good start when it is our turn. Many congratulations to Chris and Kelen Terrill on the birth of their baby boy. Another Beacon player for the future we hope and Chris is also featured on our player profile section. Our Dinner & Dance tickets are selling fast so get your tickets soon. After last seasons successful event it will again be held at Tricky’s on Saturday 24th November. The AGM is fast approaching and we remind all players, officials and supporters to attend the meeting held at the clubhouse on Friday 5th October starting at 19.30. There are some exciting changes being planned and your input is vital plus the bar will be open. Yours in cricket – The BCC Committee
