Beacon Cricket Club has continued its fine winter with the signing of Liam Hoban from Falmouth for the 2019 season.
Beacon enjoyed a very successful return to County 1 in the 2018, finishing third behind Helston and Troon, and only 13 points from the top of the table. Beacon's committee has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to secure new sponsors, investment in facilities and early All Stars registrations point towards further growth in the club’s youth section. The signing of Hoban further strengthens the club’s on-field ambitions for 2019.
Left arm spin bowler and batsman Hoban, made 13 Premier League appearances for Falmouth in 2018 and enjoyed his best figures of 4/10 while on duty for the club’s second eleven in Division 2 West.
Beacon Captain Craig Thomas commented; “we are delighted to welcome Liam to the club for the 2019 season. He is a talented all-rounder with a good level of premier league experience under his belt which will certainly strengthen our side and we hope he will become a key part of our club for many years to come.”
Hoban, who has already joined his new team mates for preseason training said: “I can’t wait for the season to get going and to settle into the squad, I’ve played against Beacon a number of times, they are always a tough side to come up against and they had a great season last year. I’m looking forward to what we hope will be another successful season in 2019”.
Beacon's first team squad will kick off their 2019 campaign at home to Gorran on 20th April. “We are enjoying a hard preseason and the game against Gorran will be a tough test to get us going, but the guys are all looking forward to it” said Craig.
